--- The context --- In Licey al Medio, in Santiago province, an investigation remains open into the shooting death of Estarlyn Gómez, known as Capital, which occurred on October 19 in the La Chiva sector. --- The facts --- Eliseo Domínguez Rodríguez, known as Yoan, was sought under a court order for his alleged link to that death and surrendered voluntarily to the National Police, accompanied by his legal representative, after police investigation and pursuit work. --- The positions --- The Police said the detainee will be placed before the Public Prosecutor, together with the corresponding evidence and documentation, for legal proceedings. It also said he went to the office of the Cibao Central regional director, General Jesús Rafael Tejada Tejada. --- What remains unknown --- The authorities offered no further details about the degree of participation attributed to the detainee in the homicide, nor did they disclose additional elements about the argument that preceded the shooting. --- Unanswered questions --- What elements allegedly link Yoan to the death of Gómez? What degree of participation do the authorities attribute to him in the incident? What will the Public Prosecutor decide once it receives the detainee together with the evidence gathered? --- EPM analysis --- In the same case, Álvaro José Peña de Asís, known as El Cachorro, was also named and has already been brought before the courts. According to preliminary investigations, Gómez died from firearm wounds sustained during an argument. 📌 EPM Take: In EPM's view, a voluntary surrender does not close the case or establish any guilt, but it orders the process and allows the investigation to be tested where it belongs, before prosecutors and the courts. What matters now is that the evidence is presented clearly, that due process for the named man is respected, and that the victim's family receives verifiable answers about what happened in La Chiva.
