EPM Briefing: Iran's European shadow, Italy's classroom cap, phoenix planet

Today's five verified stories: Washington pulls B-1 bombers from Fairford after Iran-linked threats, 9.1% of Italian classrooms exceed the foreign-student cap…

Threats in the shadows, a classroom debate, an unusual storm season, a Green Party controversy and a cosmic find: five fronts on one Tuesday. 1. United Kingdom: Washington pulled about a dozen B-1 bombers from the British base at RAF Fairford after threats President Trump linked to Iran. The move followed the 27 September incident — three suspicious vehicles and six arrested men, all since released — while Tehran denies any involvement. 2. Italy: 33,222 Italian classrooms, 9.1% of 365,935, exceed the 30% cap on foreign students set by decree, according to Tuttoscuola's study. Primary schools hold the most cases, with 16,836 classes (13.8%), and in the north one in five classrooms breaches the limit. 3. Japan: Typhoons Choi-wan and Nolo and Tropical Storm Koguma remain active at once in the western Pacific, unseen in October for five years, per the Japan Weather Association. Choi-wan heads northeast without landfall in Japan; the risk is concentrated in high waves around several areas of the country. 4. United Kingdom: Zack Polanski said no one will be excluded from the Green Party of England and Wales over their faith, after members adopted a motion defining Zionism as a form of racism. More than a dozen Labour MPs reported the party to the equality watchdog. 5. United Kingdom: Astronomers led by the University of Warwick detected near the white dwarf HS 0209+0832 a rare phoenix planet that appears to have formed from the remains of its dead star. The zinc, copper and niobium chemical signature and the TESS signal repeating every 4.4 days support the finding. 📌 Editor's note: five fronts open in a single day, from the skies of Europe to the stars.
