Elections, safety and housing: the five stories shaping the day. 1. Brazil: Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro will hold their first televised debate this Sunday, one week before the runoff. Flávio won the first round with 47% against 45% and leads the Datafolha and Quaest polls with 51% to 49%, in a campaign marked by security, paid rest, debt relief and a digital platforms dispute. 2. United States: A six-year-old child and a 35-year-old man died after a vehicle entered a youth soccer field in Wichita, Kansas. Eleven people were injured, including five children, none seriously. The 34-year-old driver is in custody and the investigation remains open. 3. Colombia: Heraclito Landinez, of the Historic Pact, questioned the submission law of the government of Abelardo de La Espriella over the 50% sentence reduction, the additional 20% discount for work or study and possible service in agricultural colonies. He also criticized the Antiterrorism Statute for allowing administrative terrorist lists and defended a negotiated exit from the conflict. 4. Spain: Miguel Ángel Vázquez Taín, president of the General Council of Economists, calls for a state pact on housing, recalls the Bank of Spain estimate of an accumulated shortfall of about 750,000 homes and assigns tasks to government, regions and town councils. 5. San Vicente Sur: The overflow of a river near the La Ilusión development affected around eight homes and led to preventive evacuations and prehospital care. Rescuers stabilized a person at the scene, while in La Libertad Oeste a trapped person was evacuated and flooding was addressed with no deaths recorded. 📌 Editor's note: five stories setting the pulse of the week, from ballots to streets.
