Saturday's five verified stories: Abelardo warns pressure between Government and Congress will be exposed, announces more security and a health plan in San…

Transparency, health and public accounts: the five stories shaping the day. 1. Colombia: President Abelardo de la Espriella warned that any improper request, condition or pressure between his Government and Congress will be made public and «punished with all severity». He ordered Interior Minister Rodrigo Lara to report every anomaly to him, and separated legitimate political dialogue from any attempt to turn it into posts, contracts or resources, against the backdrop of the Ungrd scandal. 2. Colombia: Abelardo de la Espriella made his first trip to San Andrés and chaired a security council with territorial authorities and six ministers. He announced a larger security force deployment against drug trafficking, smuggling, micro-trafficking, «gota a gota» loans and extortion, and confirmed the intervention of the Departmental Hospital and a shock plan for more than 4,900 patients awaiting care in the archipelago. 3. Colombia: Former serviceman Henry Camargo arrived in Bogotá on October 13, 2026, on a medicalized flight from New York, financed by the Special Fund for Migrations and coordinated by the Foreign Ministry and the consulate. He was received at the Central Military Hospital, where his care will continue under the special military health regime, while the Foreign Ministry recalls the limits of consular assistance. 4. United States: Trump and Vance lead a coalition of Cabinet members, states, and Congress against fraud in public programs. Officials added their own figures, including the $22 BILLION in labor fraud already uncovered according to Secretary Sonderling, under a pledge of prevention and accountability. 5. Italy: After the October European Council, Meloni highlighted the ETS and ETS2 references, the closing of the bills decree to lower electricity costs, a migration emergency framework, the defense of Cohesion and agriculture funds, and continued support for Ukraine. 📌 Editor's note: five stories setting the pulse of the week, from Congress to Europe.
