--- The context --- Micro-trafficking operates inside neighborhoods where families live daily alongside distribution and sales points, so each intervention must also be judged by its judicial follow-through and its real effect on the sectors entered by the authorities. --- The facts --- The National Drug Control Directorate reported that 152 people were detained and that the total of suspected substances confiscated amounts to 57,948.90 grams, after 1,155 operations and 16 searches were carried out in the National District, Santo Domingo East, Santo Domingo West and Boca Chica. Among the items seized were 54,404 grams of suspected cocaine, 881 grams of marijuana and 622 doses of a rocky material, presumably crack, along with RD$62,000 and US$5 in cash and other evidence linked to the investigations. By area, Santo Domingo East led the seizures with 23,594.30 grams of suspected drugs, during 247 operations that left 46 people detained. In the National District, authorities reported 20,355.90 grams seized after 201 operations, with 38 people detained. In Santo Domingo West, 8,067 grams were confiscated during 133 operations, with 20 people detained. In Boca Chica, officers carried out 206 operations, seized 2,232.90 grams and arrested 15 people, while in Ciudad Juan Bosch they carried out 193 operations, with 17 detained and 270.40 grams seized. --- The positions --- The interventions were carried out in coordination with the Public Prosecutor's Office and the National Police to identify and dismantle distribution and sales points, as part of the work of the Joint Task Force. The 152 detainees were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office, and the institution said interventions will continue alongside security bodies and judicial authorities. --- What remains unknown --- The definitive type and weight of the suspected substances must be confirmed through the corresponding analyses. The outcome of the legal proceedings for each detainee is also unknown, as is whether the points entered will remain dismantled as days pass. --- Unanswered questions --- What will the analyses confirm about the definitive type and weight of the suspected substances? What decisions will the Public Prosecutor's Office take on the 152 detainees? Will the points entered stay dismantled or reappear in the same sectors? --- EPM analysis --- Without laboratory confirmation or judicial outcomes, the balance risks remaining a snapshot of a single day. Residents' trust depends on a sustained and transparent presence. 📌 EPM Take: In EPM's view, the operation matters for its scale and for the coordination it displays, but its real value will be measured by what happens next in laboratories, courts and neighborhoods. Detaining 152 people and seizing suspected substances does not close the micro-trafficking problem if the points reappear. The public demand should be verifiable follow-up, due process for every detainee and results that hold over time, not only a voluminous report issued at the moment of the initial deployment.
