Tarazona links a Tirofijo son to the Uribe killing probe

--- The context --- The murder of Miguel Uribe Turbay remains open in Colombia while prosecutors pursue those who ordered and carried out the assassination. In that context, his widow, María Claudia Tarazona, has repeatedly made public elements that, according to her, have reached both her and the judicial authorities, so that no line of inquiry is left unexamined. --- The facts --- In a recent interview, Tarazona said that late last week information reportedly reached the prosecutor's office and would be revealed soon, according to her account. She said that in Vaupés or Guainía, without being sure of the exact place, an illegal mine would be run by Enrique Marulanda. According to Tarazona, Marulanda would be the biological son of Manuel Marulanda, known as Tirofijo, and the foster son of Sandra Ramírez, who served in Congress. She added that the mine would belong to John 40, a member of the Segunda Marquetalia, and that Marulanda would guard and manage it. Tarazona further claimed that, according to that information, Marulanda gave and coordinated the material order for the murder, though not the intellectual order. In parallel, the known investigation points to a decision reportedly taken by Iván Márquez at a meeting with leading members of the Segunda Marquetalia, with virtual participation by Geovany Andrés Rojas, known as Araña, and his lieutenant known as Jairo or Popeye. Walter Mendoza, Alberto Cruz Lobo, Marulanda himself, Zarco Aldinever and John 40 also reportedly took part. Prosecutors are also investigating whether the payment was set at 5,000 million pesos and whether that money came from a mine in Barrancominas, in Guainía, where gold and coltan are extracted. --- The positions --- Tarazona's position is that the Segunda Marquetalia formed part of the material authorship and not the intellectual authorship, and acted as the vehicle to carry out the crime. According to her, that organisation obtained the money, brought it from Venezuela, hired the people and communicated with the man known as el Viejo, who would coordinate the criminal structure in Bogotá. She also recalled that the previous week she had maintained that the order reportedly came from Congress and had handed over the chats that reached her phone. In her reading, the foster link between Marulanda and a former member of Congress would make the pieces take a different shape, according to her interpretation. --- What remains unknown --- None of the above has been confirmed by prosecutors in the available account. The revelation attributed to Tarazona remains pending official confirmation, and no judicial findings are yet known that establish Marulanda's participation or the exact origin of the money. Nor has it been established who gave the intellectual order, a point Tarazona herself distinguishes from the material order she attributes to Marulanda. --- Unanswered questions --- Will prosecutors confirm that the information described by Tarazona did reach their office last week? Can the participation attributed to Enrique Marulanda in the material order be established with evidence? Will it be proven that the payment of 5,000 million pesos came from the Barrancominas mine? Who gave the intellectual order for the murder? --- EPM analysis --- The case combines illegal mining, armed dissidents and cross-border financing. Tarazona mentioned as elements that could bring the truth closer the extraction and subsequent capture of Nicolás Maduro on 3 January 2026, the extradition of Araña and the extradition of Águila, the right hand of Zarco Aldinever. She also said that el Viejo has declared that he was hired by Zarco Aldinever and Iván Márquez and that the money came from Venezuela. Each claim will have to be tested by the courts, including the cooperation the family hopes to receive from the United States justice system. 📌 EPM Take: In EPM's view, a revelation of this gravity demands maximum rigour before any public conclusion is drawn. What the widow has provided is, for now, a line of inquiry attributed to information that reportedly reached prosecutors, and its real weight can only be measured once the judicial authority tests it against verifiable evidence and adversarial scrutiny. Prejudging the people named without that testing would harm due process and also the search for truth that the family itself is demanding. Prudence is neither silence nor impunity: it is the condition that allows any confirmed finding to withstand full judicial scrutiny afterwards.
