Isaac Daniel Rodríguez García has been placed on the new most-wanted list for homicide in Bogotá, under an arrest warrant for his alleged role in the murder of rice businessman Gustavo Andrés Aponte Fonnegra and his bodyguard, Luis Gabriel Gutiérrez Garzón. --- The context --- The double killing took place on February 11, 2026, when Aponte Fonnegra and Gutiérrez Garzón left a gym located at Calle 85 and Carrera Séptima, in the Chapinero district. The case has not yet been cleared up, and the search remains open months later. --- The facts --- The Metropolitan Police included Rodríguez García among those wanted for homicide and asked citizens to provide information that could help locate him. Authorities are investigating his possible link to the double murder and are also seeking the alleged head of the gang said to be behind the attack. The inquiry aims to establish who carried out the crime and who planned it. In the same report, the institution said its operations against homicide began on August 7 and led to the capture of 64 people accused of homicide in Bogotá: 27 detained in flagrante and 37 after procedures with judicial orders. Jherson Leonardo Contreras Ramírez, alias Bambam or Tatán, has already been captured in the same case, accused of being one of the alleged coordinators of the double homicide. Contreras Ramírez was detained at El Dorado International Airport while trying to travel to Lima, and a judge ordered him held after he was charged with aggravated homicide and aggravated manufacturing, trafficking and carrying of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition. He did not accept the charges. --- The positions --- Lawyer Mario Iguarán, representing the victims, said the attack may have been the product of a mix-up: as he explained, the investigation points to hitmen seeking to kill another businessman, Olimpo Antonio Oliver Peñaranda, rather than Aponte Fonnegra. Iguarán praised the work of the prosecution, the Technical Investigation Corps and the Police, and also referred to the capture in Villavicencio of Leonel Llanos, accused of riding the motorcycle used on the day of the crime. According to the accusation, Contreras Ramírez created a WhatsApp group called Gladiadores in February 2026 to coordinate surveillance of the victim. That group also included Leonel Enrique Llanos Paternina, alias Tony, already prosecuted in the same file and held in prison for alleged surveillance and coordination. --- What remains unknown --- The investigation has not yet identified the person who shot the businessman and his bodyguard. The whereabouts of Rodríguez García and the full identity of the alleged gang leader also remain unclear, central pieces needed to close the case. --- Unanswered questions --- Where is Isaac Daniel Rodríguez García and when can he be captured? Who materially shot Aponte Fonnegra and Gutiérrez Garzón? Who is the alleged head of the gang said to be behind the attack? Will the mix-up hypothesis about the target be confirmed at trial? --- EPM analysis --- The most-wanted list turns the search into a public matter: the released image aims to let any citizen provide the missing tip. The file already gathers captures, a messaging group under examination and a mix-up hypothesis that, if proven, would change the reading of the motive without lessening the gravity of the double homicide. 📌 EPM Take: In EPM's view, publishing the most-wanted image is a necessary step, but not a sufficient one: the Aponte case will only close when the material shooter is identified, the fugitives are captured and it is clarified whether the target was confused. Citizens can help locate Rodríguez García, and the justice system must turn these investigative advances into complete, verifiable answers for the families of both victims in this painful case today.
