Ayuso hosts Milei in Madrid and asks him to attend the Ibero-American Summit

--- The context --- The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, held a meeting of almost two hours on Wednesday afternoon at the Canal de Isabel II facilities, where the regional leader told him that Madrid is and always will be his home. --- The facts --- It was one of the few meetings with political representatives that the Argentine president held on his visit to Spain, after meeting Vox secretary general Ignacio Garriga and taking part in the opening of the 10th Annual Madrid Conference on Austrian Economics at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. Both arrived punctually at 17 hours, with a large police reinforcement, and the meeting moved to the Canal because of works at the Real Casa de Correos. According to the regional government, they reviewed the international political panorama and addressed the internal situation of Argentina and Spain, the Ceuta problem caused by the arrival of thousands of migrants, and the role of the middle classes and the danger of their deterioration. Milei invited Ayuso to visit Argentina, and she asked him to attend the XXX Ibero-American Summit, to be held in early November in Madrid. --- The positions --- The most delicate point was the grandchildren law: the Supreme Court has ruled that more than 163,000 newly nationalised citizens on the Census of Absent Resident Voters cannot vote on November 29. Ayuso warned of possible irregularities and of electoral surgery from La Moncloa, and the regional government noted that in Buenos Aires 645,000 people have filed applications at the Consulate to opt for Spanish nationality. The central government questioned the visit: the Foreign Ministry considered it unworthy that Milei came to insult the president of the Government and condemned his words against Pedro Sánchez. From the PP, its campaign spokesperson, Ester Muñoz, backed the meeting because he is the head of state of a sister nation, with many economic, social, cultural and emotional interests for Spain. --- What remains unknown --- It has not been confirmed whether Milei will finally attend the Ibero-American Summit in early November, or whether Ayuso's visit to Argentina will be given a date. --- Unanswered questions --- Will Milei accept the invitation to the Ibero-American Summit in Madrid? Will Ayuso's trip to Argentina take shape? How will the ruling on the 163,000 newly nationalised citizens affect the overseas vote on November 29? --- EPM analysis --- The meeting turns a brief visit into a political gesture with three readings: ideological affinity, a dispute over the overseas vote, and an open clash with La Moncloa. 📌 EPM Take: In EPM's view, the Canal de Isabel II meeting matters more for what it arranges than for what it announces: Ayuso positions herself as Milei's Spanish interlocutor, opens the door of the Ibero-American Summit to him, and puts the focus on the overseas vote and the grandchildren law five weeks before November 29. The Foreign Ministry's condemnation confirms that La Moncloa read the gesture as a challenge. The test of its real weight will be simple: if Milei returns in November, the alliance will have both a photo and consequences.
