--- The context --- The health sector serves citizens every day who need care under equal conditions. For that reason, a commitment on transparency in this area directly affects public trust and how institutions respond to the population. --- The facts --- President Luis Abinader led the signing of the Strategic Commitment on Integrity and Prevention of Administrative Corruption in the health sector. According to the signed commitment, it seeks to strengthen transparency, unify institutional protocols and guarantee equitable treatment for citizens. During the ceremony, the director general of Government Ethics and Integrity, Milagros Ortiz Bosch, said integrity should become a tool so that all government institutions work in the same direction, with uniform procedures and greater public access to information. --- The positions --- Ortiz Bosch also said that 111 public hospitals are cleaned up and debt free, a result she attributed to a new way of administering the sector. Health Minister Víctor Atallah said integrity should be assumed as a service with a deep human sense, not only as administrative compliance. --- What remains unknown --- The follow-up mechanisms, implementation deadlines and how each institution will account for the commitments are not yet known. Nor was it detailed how the public will verify that unified protocols improve access to information. --- Unanswered questions --- What mechanisms will verify that the commitment is fulfilled in each health institution? Within what period will the unified protocols be applied? How will the public be able to verify that equitable treatment improves in practice? --- EPM analysis --- The value of the pact will lie in its daily application. A common direction brings order, but its effect will depend on transparency and uniform procedures resulting in clearer and more equitable services for citizens. 📌 EPM Take: In EPM's view, this commitment is right to place equity and access to information at the center of health management, because integrity is also measured in the patient's daily experience. What was signed sets a common direction, but its credibility will depend on verifiable controls, public deadlines and results that the population can check in each health service.
