Sánchez equates Milei with Feijóo and Abascal at Burgos rally

--- The context --- The visit to Spain by Argentine president Javier Milei continues to shape part of the debate in the middle of the pre-campaign. The Government has criticised his latest statements on Spanish politics. This Wednesday, Pedro Sánchez, prime minister and secretary general of the socialists, responded from a PSOE event in Burgos, at a rally at the Fórum Evolución. --- The facts --- During the rally, Sánchez equated the leader of La Libertad Avanza with the PP leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, and the Vox president, Santiago Abascal, and said that the three share the same political model. Addressing Alberto and Santiago by name, Sánchez said the three formed the same crew, Milei, Feijóo and Abascal, that of the cuts, the snips and the chainsaw. --- The positions --- Sánchez framed his criticism within the campaign for the elections on 29 November and argued that citizens already know the proposals of PP and Vox well, and stated that voters will send both leaders to the sawmill. The clash follows the condemnation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the latest insults from Milei, whom it accused of seeking polarization. From Burgos, Sánchez used that controversy to redouble his attacks against the Spanish right and far right, linking them to the adjustment symbolized by the chainsaw, Milei's emblem. --- What remains unknown --- The available information does not record the content of Milei's statements or of the insults condemned by Foreign Affairs, nor response from Feijóo or Abascal, nor a later statement by Milei. --- Unanswered questions --- Will Feijóo and Abascal respond to the equation with Milei? Will Foreign Affairs take any further step after the condemnation of the insults? Will Milei speak again on Spanish politics? Will the equation be repeated at other campaign events? --- EPM analysis --- The event concentrates the debate on one idea: the three would share, according to Sánchez, one same model of cuts and the chainsaw. The controversy with a foreign president thus becomes an argument about the model attributed to PP and Vox. 📌 EPM Take: In EPM's view, the Burgos equation is a well-built campaign message because it sums up in a single line, that of the crew, what Sánchez attributes to his rivals: cuts and the chainsaw. Faced with a controversy opened by a foreign president, he answers with an image centred on Spanish politics and tied to the elections on 29 November. That concreteness, and not the tone, gives the Burgos rally its political force.
