Abelardo demands ELN free officer kidnapped in Arauca

Second Lieutenant María Camila Pantoja Hernández was kidnapped in Saravena, Arauca, at the end of her workday.

--- The context --- Arauca is a territory where, according to the military command's account, the ELN and the Domingo Laín Sáenz Front have a strong presence. In that setting, an Army intelligence officer was carrying out the duties of her role when she was kidnapped in the urban center of Saravena, an act that again placed at the center the protection owed to those who serve in areas with a guerrilla presence. --- The facts --- Second Lieutenant María Camila Pantoja Hernández, an intelligence officer in a unit in Arauca, was intercepted at the end of her workday while moving through the urban center of Saravena. Colonel Stiv Reyes Monsalve, national commander of the military Gaulas, detailed that several individuals intercepted her and forced her into a private vehicle, apparently a motorcycle type. According to his account, the officer was at that moment performing the duties proper to her intelligence role. --- The positions --- President Abelardo De La Espriella condemned and rejected the act, which he attributed to members of the ELN, Domingo Laín Sáenz Front, and warned that guerrilla group, in attributed form, that it had chosen the wrong Government and that it would not be allowed to keep using kidnapping to intimidate the security forces and defy the authority of the State. The president also reported that he ordered the deployment of all capabilities of the National Army, the Navy, the Colombian Air Force and the National Police to find her and secure her safe return, and he demanded that those responsible respect her life and integrity and free her immediately, without conditions. --- What remains unknown --- Colonel Reyes Monsalve noted that, apparently, the ELN and the Domingo Laín Sáenz Front are the ones holding the officer, although he specified that those groups have not made any official statement. That absence of a statement keeps the attribution in the realm of the presumably attributed rather than something confirmed by their own spokespeople. Her whereabouts are also still unknown, as is the outcome of the ordered deployment, beyond the fact that the forces activated a lockdown plan in the territory to locate her and achieve her recovery. --- Unanswered questions --- Where is Second Lieutenant María Camila Pantoja Hernández and what is the state of her integrity? Will the ELN or the Domingo Laín Sáenz Front make an official statement about an attribution that today stands only as presumed? Will the lockdown plan activated in the territory succeed in bringing her back safe and sound? What effective guarantees protect officers who carry out intelligence duties in the urban center of Saravena? --- EPM analysis --- The case combines an immediate humanitarian demand, respect for the officer's life and integrity, with a state response that the president himself framed as a defense of the State's authority against the use of kidnapping as intimidation against the security forces. Prudence requires distinguishing the levels: the presidential condemnation and deployment order are facts declared by the president, the mechanics of the kidnapping come from the account of the national commander of the military Gaulas, and authorship remains attributed only apparently, without official confirmation from those named. 📌 EPM Take: In EPM's view, the absolute priority is the life of Second Lieutenant Pantoja Hernández and her immediate release without conditions, just as the president demanded, because no political objective is built on the kidnapping of a servant of the State. The institutional response must be firm and at the same time rigorous with the available evidence, without turning a presumed attribution into a closed certainty, and with the protection of Arauca's population as a permanent measure of any ongoing deployment.
